Hopefully, by the time of your reading, this blog has become more accessible to the public than it currently is. Here are a few announcements:

1. Advent starts this week. I know that I speak for many of us when I say that we are truly excited about this month. Not only are we CHOOSING to join the early church in celebration of the church calendar, but we are also adding our voices to the great story of church history. Many of the ways that we choose to celebrate Advent will look very different than other expressions from the past. This is thrilling!!!

2. We will be announcing a direction for our social justice emphasis this week.

3. Matt and Amy Sawyer will be stepping in to lead Angie Schuller's lifegroup since Angie is moving to Dallas (We will all miss her!!!) Matt and Amy are awesome people who are more than ready and excited about leading this group.

Invisible Children

Hey Everyone!!!!

Just wanted to remind you about Invisible Children tonight!!! We will begin at 7pm. All we are doing is showing the film and BRIEFLY telling you what it is about.

Also, you can pre-order the SN Music CD (Not titled yet) by paying $10 and you get a free 4-song demo!!! What a deal!!! We will also be taking an offering to raise money to finish the CD which will benefit Invisible Children

In my own forgetfulness, I did not announce that this Thursday night at 7pm is community game night at the Smiths!!!! All are welcome to come. We always have a great time. Bring a snack if you want and we'll see you there! Also, I'd like to get the SN announcement blog going so that we can all stay in tune with stuff that is going on around the SN community. Game Night Tomorrow Night

This is just a reminder that we will be having our Game Night tomorrow, July 27, Thursday 7PM. Come to the Smith's house at 4711 W. 88th St. (about 3 miles west of the church - see link to directions below). If you have trouble finding us, call the Smiths at 512-6080.

We are trying to create a Saturday Night community where we actually get to know, support and spend time with each other. No better way to do that than FREE FOOD and GAMES! Come hang around, eat, play some games (or play some pool) and get to know each other. Come when you want; leave when you want.

Hello All!!!

Fireworks and Fireflies at the Smiths is July 2nd at 7pm. Bring lawn chairs, a blanket, and fireworks if you have any. Remember, there will be a special area for kids.

Game night is this Thursday at 7pm. Bring a snack to share!

Remember that both of these events are at the Smiths. I think you can find directions to their house in one of the earlier posts.

We're Back! Ashley and I have been gone on our honeymoon for two weeks and we have finally returned!!! Here are a few important dates to remember.

June 24th- SN @ TLC 7pm

June 29th- Game Night- Thursday 7pm at the Smiths. Bring a snack

July 1st- SN @ TLC- Salsa Night- bring your favorite salsa, baby dedication- Jack Watts

July 3rd- Fireflies and Fireworks- Community Dinner at the Smiths- Pizza, fireworks display, bring lawnchairs, blanket, and fireworks if you have any. A separate place will be marked off for kids whose parents do not want them involved with the fireworks.

Happy Summer to All!!!

Hello Everyone,

Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the summer. Just a note about some things that are going on at SN:

1. This week at SN, we are entering into an exciting season. We will be launching our first small groups!!! TLC is launching 21 new groups of which 5 are from the SN community. We will be announcing and commissioning these groups tomorrow night at the SN gathering. We would encourage all of you to consider being a part of one of these groups. Also, tomorrow night, we will be discussing Acts 2:42-47, the church's response to the Holy Spirit being poured out on all people. You might consider reading these verses before you come.

2. In two weeks, we will be meeting in the youth facility upstairs. There will be signs and greeters to send you in the right direction, but don't get freaked out...it's going to be ok. Also, three weeks is my wedding. All are invited!!! We will not have SN gathering at our regular 7pm time.

3. If you are reading this entry on our newsletter, check out the blog at sntlc.blogspot.com where you can post comments.

4. Don't forget about the outreach tomorrow at noon!

Exciting Things at SN

Hey everybody. I just wanted to take the time to tell you how awesome you are. Some really cool things have been happening at SN ever since we launched in October. I have reflected (celebrated, for those who were there Saturday) on the past few months and our community has been an active part of following in the footsteps of Christ. We have seen people healed, helped them off their feet, fed the homeless, worshipped together, met once a month at our community gatherings, celebrated, meditated, gone upwards, forwards, backwards, "withwards", inwards, and outwards and had a lot of fun along the way. Anyway, it's pretty cool

This week, my parents will be discussing the value of women (Mother's day, creative, huh?). Also, don't forget the community lunch at the Smith's house on Saturday at noon.

Saturday Night Community:

This is just a reminder that we will be having our monthly get-together for free lunch, talk, relationship and relaxation this Saturday at Noon. We're calling it "Second Saturday Lunch Period" - since it's the second Saturday every month. Creative, huh? Come to the Smith's house at 4711 W. 88th St. (about 3 miles west of the church - see link to directions below). If you have trouble finding us, call the Smiths at 512-6080.

[Basically, it's pretty simple: if you were leaving from the Church, you'd go straight West on Main, cross highway 75 and swing around to the right onto Union. Go south on Union for just a little bit to the corner of 91st and Union (AJ's Convenience Store). Turn left (West) onto 91st St. Go down 91st for about a mile and a half til you get to S. 43rd W. Ave. Turn right; go to the end of the block and turn left. You're now on 88th St. Go left on 88th St. till you get to 4711 W. 88th St., on your right. See, that wasn't so hard!]

Spirituality in Film- Tonight @ SN

Art Night Tonight/Community Lunch Today!

Also, tonight we are discussing art: Us as God's art, the importance of our creativity, and recgnizing the value of art in the course of our lives. Even if you do not think that you are "artistic" you probably are!

March Outreach

We are meeting at the church this Saturday at Noon to drive to the Day Center in Tulsa. We will be giving some food and other needed items to the homeless, talking to them, and praying for them if they would like. We will be back at the church by 2 to 2.30. Hope to see you there!

Hello All. Tank, my dad, and I had a great time in San Diego, but we missed you all. The conference was good, and the weather was awesome!!! I heard that SN was amazing. Thanks to all of the SN volunteer staff who give so much to our little community, and also, thanks to Jason for stepping in to share in our absence. I heard great things about the teaching time last night. We celebrate you and Sarah as dear friends.

We learned a lot this week. Some of the sessions helped to reaffirm our committment to creating a community rather than just a "service". We are looking for ways to make this more evident. I value what we do together. This is why the seating at our gatherings is at tables and why we have multiple people speaking instead of just one or two people. I want to encourage us also to develop our community outside the gathering. If we just come together once a week, we are not becoming what the church is all about. Specifically, how can we bring together our younger and...not as younger groups? There is so much value in multi-generational relationships and that's something I want to see us capture.

In related news, don't forget our outreach March 4th. We're meeting at 1pm at the church. Let's have a good showing for this.

Also, our first community gathering, which is a fancy name for lunch at the Smiths house, is March 11th at 12pm. EVERYONE is welcome!!! All small groups, etc. will grow out or center from this gathering. If you have been to SN every week or one time, or never, you are welcome this month and every month (we will do this every 2nd Saturday).

This week, we will look at the season of Lent, specifically the celebration of Ash Wednesday. We will do this...on Saturday. See you then!
